Botanical gardens are incredible places to visit thanks to their vibrant plant life and a multitude of alluring colors. Plus, they offer a relaxing atmosphere that few other locations can match. In Irving, you’ll find yourself close to quite a few botanical gardens you may not want to miss out on. Here are some of our favorites.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is the most famous in the area. It’s the oldest botanical garden in Texas and stretches an incredible 109 acres. Within this garden, you’ll find 2,501 species of plants, including irises, chrysanthemums, daylilies, and much more. Keep in mind that while much of the park is free, the Japanese Garden section does require a small admission fee.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
At the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, you can enjoy spending time at one of the most-visited gardens in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. With 17 named gardens across 66 acres of space, you can enjoy a variety of plants and trees, including 90 varieties of azaleas and magnolias stretching 45 feet in height.
Grapevine Botanical Gardens
When you visit Grapevine Botanical Gardens, you’ll find yourself in a more relaxed and peaceful environment if the crowds at the larger botanical gardens get to be too much. Nestled between Fort Worth and Dallas, this garden has an array of foreign and local plants, from flowers to massive trees. You can even find turtles and Koi fish at the pond here.
