Summer will be over soon, so now is the time to start planning your end-of-summer trip. If you live near Dallas there are lots of options. This part of Texas has lots of places you can visit, and they are all just a short drive away. Check out these trips to take before summer ends.
Hamilton Pool
Take the three and a half-hour drive to Hamilton Pool, and you’ll feel like you are in a different world. The Hamilton Pool Preserve is a nature preserve and swimming hole in Travis County. It formed when an underground river’s dome collapsed, creating a massive waterfall and swimming area. Just make sure to call the preserve before you head out to make a reservation since swimming and parking are only allowed if you have one.
Grapevine
The city of Grapevine sits between Dallas and Fort Worth. This unique city is all about wine, with several that you can visit and tour. It is also home to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad with 1920s train coaches to explore and an evening Jazz Wine Train with great music and wine.
Lake Whitney State Park
Lake Whitney is under two hours away, offering clear water for swimming, fishing, and spots for camping. On shore, the park has trails to explore with trails for hiking and biking. This lake is also a great fishing spot both from the shore and out on the water.
Take your end of summer trip to one of these Texas destinations. Each is an easy day trip and offers lots of fun.
