Most drivers would agree that an all-wheel-drive system gives you more control and better traction for various weather conditions and road surfaces. Mitsubishi has upped that with a super all-wheel-drive system, available on the 2023 Eclipse Cross. This system is designed to increase safety, but what is Mitsubishi’s super all-wheel-drive control?

Where Super All-Wheel-Control Began

Super all-wheel-control (S-AWC) started in the Dakar desert dunes during Mitsubishi’s famous motorsports victories of the World Rally Championship. Mitsubishi used previously developed four-wheel-drive technology to optimize and evolve the four-wheel-drive system. They refined that technology by testing it on various road surfaces and weather conditions. Even as S-AWC is introduced, Mitsubishi vows to continue enhancing and evolving it to provide vehicles to consumers that you can drive anywhere with confidence.

What Is Super All-Wheel-Control?

Mitsubishi integrates active yaw control (AYC), adaptive stability control (ASC), and the anti-lock brakes (ABS) to distribute driving torque. S-AWC also provides the proper amount of torque to the left and right wheels using an electronically controlled center differential and brake force. This system gives drivers seamless management during cornering, accelerating, and braking, regardless of road or weather conditions. It also delivers excellent control and performance on off-road terrain as well as a daily commute on paved roads.
