Since its launch in 2017, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has become known as one of the top PHEV SUVs in the world. The updated 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, recently released at the Minnesota Auto Show, promises to maintain this good reputation. Here’s what we know about the new Outlander PHEV so far.

New Powertrain

The all-new Outlander PHEV receives a four-cylinder engine that’s mated to a continuously variable transmission and two electric motors. Not only are the motors more powerful than that of the outgoing model, but the battery of the new powertrain is also bigger, which means that the driving range of the new model has been extended. Although the exact numbers have not been released yet, you can expect an electric driving range of somewhere in the region of 35 to 40 miles.

Super All-Wheel Control

The standard Super All-Wheel Control system of the new Outlander PHEV works together with Active Yaw Control to provide the SUV with enhanced maneuverability and traction. The system offers seven drive modes, including Normal, Power, Eco, Snow, and Gravel, which allow for optimum performance and improved safety in different driving conditions.

Upgraded Cabin and Technology

Instead of the two rows of seats offered by the 2022 model, the new Outlander PHEV is fitted with three rows, which can accommodate up to seven passengers. Apart from an upgraded infotainment system, the new model receives the Mi-Pilot system, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-keep assist for safer highway driving.
